I R and J M Walton are breeders of Carkin Pedigree Holsteins. We are the premiere dairy farmers in North Yorkshire and our comfortable cows are efficient milk producers that have an average yield of 9750 litres at 3.9 percent butterfat and 3.2 percent protein. We run a simple system of grass, grass silage and concentrates and our aim is efficient milk production. Our cows are milked twice daily. Housed in environmentally controlled building on water beds. Classification: 35 VG 8 EX We are proud winners of the national British Grassland Society silage competition 2000 and runners up in the Promar Milkminder Manager of the year 2003. We are looking to expand our business by developing Luxury holiday accommodation in farm cottages by 2005. We also have a keen interest in Agricultural Education and can provide Farming and Smallholders Course plus various Agricultural courses.
